Florence through the eyes of an Artist – Dreaming Sophia Program 2017

October 3, 2017 by Melissa Muldoon Leave a Comment

I have just returned from spending a month of September in Italy. The first two weeks I was in Arezzo co-leading a language learning group with Paola Testi of Cultura Italiana. The third week I found myself in Florence once again, with a delightful group of Dreaming Sophia readers. For four days and four nights, my group and I followed in the steps of Sophia, turning dreams into reality!

I have put together a video of our Dreaming Sophia program, so please take to see some of the highlights of our time spent together in Sophia’s favorite city.

Thanks to all my intrepid travelers! I had such a marvelous time with you all.

Pictured above is Joe, Sandra, Shelly, Marylou, (me), Sheree, Kara, Lucrezia (taking the picture) and Sue Ann. Thank you for reading the book, loving it and coming along with Sophia and me on this journey. I enjoyed every minute of our time together in Florence. I promise the next time there will be more days for shopping and spritzing.

Sophia, Eleonora and I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

GRAZIE also to Benedetta Bronzini and Giulia Bucciarelli, my lovely partners in this wonderful Florentine art adventure. You both were amazing and helped me realize this amazing trip. Benedetta is a native Florentine, Art Historian, teacher and guide in Florence. Guilia is a plein air artist (just like Sophia), who comes from Arezzo, but now lives and works in Florence. Baci & abbracci! You are both amazing, talented ladies. I am privileged to have such wonderful women in my life!

I can’t wait to repeat the Dreaming Sophia Art Program next September! (Here is a link to the 2017 program) New program details coming soon.

La parola del giorno: innervosire / innervosirsi I La parola del giorno: innervosire / innervosirsi
Innervosire = cause annoyance, rile up, miff
Innervosirsi (reflexive verb) = to get upset, annoyed, or irritated
Il rumore del martello pneumatico innervosiva il professore.
Carlo non si innervosisce facilmente.
A fun word to pronounce... for some it takes a little practice. When I first tried to say it I got tongue-tied and became a little annoyed... mi innervosisco (present), mi sono innervosita (present perfect)
